House Adopts Rep. Susie Lee’s Amendment to Help Local Southern Nevada Communities Combat Opioid Abuse Epidemic

June 26, 2019

Washington, DC—Today, Representative Susie Lee's (NV-03) amendment to increase investment in the Drug-Free Communities Program, which invests in local solutions and community-based action to preventing and combating the opioid epidemic was adopted by the House.

Rep. Lee released the following statement:

"The opioid epidemic is hurting every corner of our country, and southern Nevada is no exception. This is why we must invest in local, community-based solutions to help people struggling with opioid abuse. Unfortunately, local governments often have the fewest drug prevention resources even though it's local communities on the front lines combating the opioid crisis--especially our first responders and paramedics who are treating overdoses and abuse. That's exactly why I'm so glad that the House adopted my amendment to increase investment in the Drug-Free Communities Program, which will directly invest in local community efforts to combat opioid abuse in southern Nevada and throughout the country.
