CONSUMER PROTECTION/PRICE GOUGING

  • The Nevada Attorney General is reminding that price gouging violates consumer protection laws.
  • If you believe you have been the victim of price gouging related to the Coronavirus pandemic, call the Attorney General’s office at 702-486-3132.
  • We are diligently monitoring the situation. What’s clear: NO ONE should engage in this type of behavior. It hurts us all.

  • Go to the Food and Drug Administration's website to learn how to protect yourself from fraudulent COVID-19 tests, vaccines, and treatments. 

 

DEMENTIA ASSISTANCE

  • The Alzheimer’s Association and Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM) are here to help.
  • Each year, nearly 300,000 callers receive assistance from the Alzheimer’s Association free, 24/7 Helpline at (800) 272-3900, which is staffed by masters-level clinicians and offers translation services in more than 170 languages.
  • This Helpline provides confidential care consultations to assist individuals with decision-making, crisis situations and disease education information.

 

DMV

  • The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is issuing an automatic 90-day extension of all DMV-issued documents (for example, but not limited to: driver’s licenses, identification cards, vehicle registrations, etc.).
  • This extension applies to any document that contains an expiration date that falls between Mar. 16, 2020, and Apr. 30, 2020.

  • Nevada Health Link announced a limited-time Exceptional Circumstance Special Enrollment Period until May 15, 2020, for qualified Nevadans who missed the Open Enrollment Period.

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE

  • Unemployment insurance (UI) is available.
  • Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak waived the work search requirement and the seven-day wait period for approved unemployment insurance benefits.
  • The state’s unemployment insurance (UI) claims telephone call center hours have increased to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. The claims call center hours number for Southern Nevada is (702) 486-0350.  
  • If you have exhausted your regular unemployment benefits, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (NV DETR) will now give you up to 13 weeks of benefits. Visit this page for more information.
