Las Vegas, Nev. – The U.S. House of Representatives, including U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03) voted to impeach President Donald J. Trump for inciting an insurrection against the United States government. Rep. Lee released the following statement:

“Today, I voted to impeach President Donald Trump for inciting a violent attack against the United States government. The insurrection on January 6th was in large part due to Donald Trump’s constant barrage of lies, conspiracy theories, and calls to his supporters to literally fight back against unfounded claims of election fraud. Today we took the first step to ensure he is held accountable for his actions.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep Susie Lee (Nev-03) released the following statement:

“President Trump’s primary duty is to protect the American people. Not only did he fail to uphold that duty yesterday, he actively incited the attack on lawmakers in the Capitol and on our democracy itself. For that, he deserves to be removed from office, whether by invoking the 25th Amendment, impeachment, or resignation. While I fully support his removal, without broad bipartisan support, the likelihood of removing Donald Trump from office in the next 13 days is extremely low. Especially after the political theater that consumed the Electoral College certification process in Congress, we owe it to our constituents to be honest.

“We will never forget this day. Violent extremists, fueled by the dangerous rhetoric of public officials and conspiracy peddlers, attempted to overthrow our most hallowed democratic institution. But the moments that followed their failed, thuggish insurrection showed the unbreakable resolve of American democracy.
