Rep. Susie Lee (D-Nev.) referred to accelerating geothermal energy development as “a rare issue that is uniting Americans from the right, the left and the center during a time when it too often can feel like Congress can't agree on anything."  

Another bill, the "Streamlining Thermal Energy through Advanced Mechanisms (STEAM) Act," H.R. 1077, led by Lee, would expand language in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to expedite National Environmental Policy Act reviews for certain geothermal activities.
