Internship Opportunities

Washington, D.C.

In the Washington, D.C. office, internships run throughout the fall, spring, or summer terms. Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend. The hours can be flexible to accommodate candidates’ availability, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. Interns should be available to work in person from our D.C. office in a full-time or close to full-time capacity.

The Washington, D.C. office offers a comprehensive internship program that incorporates direct exposure to a wide variety of Congressional processes, including drafting bill cosponsorship memos, attending policy briefings, writing constituent letters, managing the constituent mail program, conducting legislative research, and drafting materials that directly prep the Congresswoman. The office also offers in-house professional development program that includes resume editing, cover letter review, and interview prep to help interns successfully navigate the Capitol Hill job hunt. Our office has a strong record of helping interns get placed in opportunities, both on the Hill and in adjacent industries, after their internship concludes.

District

District office internships are offered during the fall, spring, and summer terms, and interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend. Hours are flexible within the office’s regular 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule. Fall and spring internships are generally part time, while summer interns should be available to work on a full-time or close to full-time basis.

The District office offers a comprehensive program focused on the front-line work of congressional representation—where Congress meets the people it serves. Interns gain direct experience in constituent services, community engagement, communications, and office operations. Responsibilities include answering constituent calls, assisting with casework, drafting correspondence, researching issues affecting the District, supporting the communications team, and preparing for community events, stakeholder meetings, and other official engagements. Through this work, they develop a practical understanding of how a congressional office responds to constituent needs, builds relationships across the community, and brings local concerns into the Congresswoman’s work in Washington.
