KSNV: Nevada leaders decry political violence after shooting at Dallas ICE facility

September 24, 2025

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) - Nevada's leaders are decrying political violence after a shooting left at least one person dead at a federal immigration facility in Dallas on Wednesday.

Authorities say a man with a rifle opened fire onto a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement location, killing a detainee and wounding two others.

News 3 reached out to Gov. Joe Lombardo's office and members of Nevada's Congressional delegation to ask how they wanted to respond to political violence.

GOV. JOE LOMBARDO

Violence against law enforcement is depraved and despicable. Please join me in praying for the victims and their families.

U.S. SEN. CATHERINE CORTEZ MASTO

"This is horrible news. I'm grateful that our officers are safe, and for their swift response that prevented further tragedy today.

"I'm praying for the recovery of the injured person, and for the families of those who lost their lives. This violence is unacceptable, and it cannot go on."

U.S. SEN. JACKY ROSEN

I am deeply troubled and saddened to hear about the shooting at an ICE facility in Texas that resulted in the deaths of two detainees and the hospitalization of another. While we wait to learn more about the motives, we must be clear that violence is never acceptable. We must tone down the hateful rhetoric that is driving far too many to violence.

U.S. REP. SUSIE LEE

"Political violence has no place in America. All of us, and most especially elected officials, should be turning down the temperature in this country. We must commit to respectfully disagreeing through dialogue. It is time for our country to heal and our political leaders need to help lead the way."

U.S. REP. STEVEN HORSFORD

"A political attack on any American undermines our democracy – it makes all of us less safe," Rep. Horsford said. "Public discourse is a tool to solve our problems peacefully – it is time for everyone involved, from politicians, to pundits, to the American people, to demand nothing less for ourselves and our loved ones."
