KSNV: Nevada politicians react to strikes against Iran
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Nevada's Congressional delegation is sharing its reaction to the joint attack launched by the U.S. and Israel against Iran on Saturday.
President Donald Trump called on the Iranian public to "seize control of your destiny" by rising up against the Islamic leadership that has ruled the nation since 1979.
U.S. REP. SUSIE LEE, D-NEVADA
First, I want to extend my gratitude to our servicemembers in Iran and across the region. While I remain firm in my commitment that Iran cannot be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon, I await an intelligence briefing laying out the justification for the U.S. committing our troops to this attack and the strategic plan for a conclusion where the region will not suffer further instability and the Iranian people will be able to transition to a democratic government and peace.
It cannot be forgotten that the Iranian regime is responsible for funding global terrorism and killing Americans. Earlier this year, the world watched the regime’s brutality against their own citizens, committing atrocities to stay in power.
At the same time, right now, we have more questions for the Trump Administration than answers. The American people are opposed to another forever war. These strikes came without the approval of Congress or the American people. Throughout history, too often the United States started wars without a plan to end them, losing too many of our sons and daughters along the way.
I’m praying for the safety of all our men and women in uniform as Iran launches missiles toward U.S. bases in the Middle East. America’s ultimate goal must be peace.
