KSNV: New funding to begin reconstruction for Lost Creek boardwalk in Red Rock Canyon

February 9, 2024

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Bureau of Land Management announced on Thursday that a new $41 million investment from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will go toward ecosystem restoration.

Part of that funding will go toward the Lost Creek boardwalk in Red Rock Canyon.

According to Nevada Congresswoman Susie Lee who helped negotiate and pass the law, $350,000 will be going toward the efforts.

“I hike and bike through Red Rock Canyon every chance I get, and like many Nevadans, I’ve experienced firsthand how dangerous the aging Lost Creek boardwalk can be," said Congresswoman Susie Lee in a news release.

She says the boardwalk is aging and poses a danger to the public and the environment.

It's unclear when the restoration will begin.

The move represents the third installment of ecosystem restoration funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
