KSNV: Rep. Susie Lee touts $18 million in federal funds for Southern Nevada public safety

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Nearly $18 million in federal funding is headed to Southern Nevada to bolster public safety efforts, with investments planned for transit security, firefighter staffing and police aviation and emergency operations.

U.S. Rep. Susie Lee highlighted the funding during a roundtable held today with leaders from the Regional Transportation Commission, Metro Police, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, and the Clark County Fire Department.

The funding includes nearly $9 million for RTC bus upgrades and security improvements. Almost $7 million is earmarked to help recruit and retain firefighters. More than $2 million combined will go toward Metro’s air support unit and emergency operations upgrades.
