Congresswoman Lee Announces $15 Million to Help Nevada Families Pay Energy Bills
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) announced that more than $15 million has been awarded to the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services to help low-income households pay their energy bills ahead of the winter season. This award is in part funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Congresswoman Lee voted to pass last Congress.
“This funding is critical to ensuring our most vulnerable families can keep the lights on and their homes warm this winter,” said Congresswoman Lee. “I voted to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to bring once-in-a-generation investments to southern Nevada, and I’m proud to see this award building on the promise of that legislation by keeping energy costs affordable for Nevada families.”
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded $15,222,751 in combined funding from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to the Nevada Energy Assistance Program (EAP). LIHEAP funding helps low-income households pay home heating and cooling bills, prevent energy shutoffs, restore services, weatherize homes, and fund energy-related repairs.

Representing the Third Congressional District of Nevada, Congresswoman Lee is a staunch advocate for finding common ground and advancing bipartisan investments in Nevada families. Last Congress, Congresswoman Lee helped craft the bipartisan framework that led to the passage of the largest infrastructure package in a generation. As Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Women’s Caucus and Vice Chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus, Congresswoman Lee has been named the most bipartisan Member of Congress, scoring higher than any U.S. Representative, Senator, or Governor.
