Congresswoman Lee Announces 2026 Congressional Art Competition Winner
WASHINGTON, D.C — Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) announced Rumy Lee, a student at West Career and Technical Academy, as the winner of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for Nevada's 3rd Congressional District. Her artwork, “Interwoven Identities,” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year, alongside winning submissions from across the country.
Rumy Lee was invited to attend the Congressional Art Competition Winners’ Celebration in Washington, D.C. today, and her artwork will also be featured on the House of Representatives' official Congressional Art Competition page.
“Interwoven Identities” blends cultural symbols, textures, and colors from Southwestern and Korean influences. The Nevada Mountain Bluebird serves as a unifying symbol, and the piece emphasizes how different cultural backgrounds can coexist and strengthen one another.
Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.
