Congresswoman Lee Announces $32 Million for Nevada Department of Transportation to Cut Pollution in Construction Projects

November 14, 2024

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) announced that the Federal Highway Administration will be awarding the Nevada Department of Transportation $32 million to help cut pollution in federal-aid construction projects. The federal investment was made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act, which Lee helped pass.

Specifically, the investment will help implement low carbon materials that substantially reduce levels of greenhouse gas emissions in construction projects statewide. It will make it easier for the state to use construction materials and products that have substantially lower levels of embodied greenhouse gas emissions associated with all relevant stages of production, use, and disposal as compared to estimated industry averages of similar materials or products.

“Smart investments like this help protect our environment in the long haul as Nevada continues to build new and exciting infrastructure projects,” said Congresswoman Susie Lee. “I voted for the Inflation Reduction Act because I knew it would pay dividends for years to come. I’ll keep working to bring back federal dollars that support our local economy, create good-paying jobs, and make southern Nevada a cleaner, healthier place."
