Congresswoman Lee Announces $630,000 for Mobility Hub and Improved Transit Planning
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) announced that the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada will receive a $630,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration (FTA). RTC will use this funding to draft an Equitable Access to Mobility Action Plan that will help improve transportation in southern Nevada.
"Southern Nevada is already feeling the effects of historic investments in our nation's infrastructure, and this grant will ensure that current and future improvements are accessible to every Nevadan," said Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03). "I look forward to working with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada as we continue making our transportation infrastructure cleaner, safer, and more equitable for all."
This funding comes from the FTA's Areas of Persistent Poverty Program (AOPP), which provides funding to plan, engineer, and develop projects that will improve transportation, particularly in communities experiencing long-term economic pressures. RTC's Equitable Access to Mobility Action Plan is one of 47 projects across 32 states chosen to receive this funding. The RTC will use this award to draft an action plan to increase equitable mobility access and improve transportation experiences, with a focus on developing design options for mobility hubs, improved transit amenities, and complete street improvements, such as wider sidewalks, dedicated bus and bike lanes, and safer crosswalks.
