Congresswoman Lee Announces Even More Federal Water Funding Flooding into Nevada
WASHINGTON – Today, on the heels of an announcement earlier this week of nearly $27 million in drinking water investments, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) announced nearly $13 million in additional clean drinking water and water pollution investments has been awarded to the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
This announcement is in part funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Congresswoman Lee voted to pass in the Fall of 2021. This monumental legislation provides $8.3 billion for Western water infrastructure and drought resilience, including Congresswoman Lee’s Large-Scale Water Recycling legislation which the Department of the Interior announced an initial investment in earlier this month.
“The flood of federal water funding into our state should reassure every Nevadan that our future is looking brighter and more sustainable every day,” said Congresswoman Susie Lee. “This additional funding, most of which was provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will not only continue to protect and preserve our water supplies, but also keep dangerous forever chemicals out of our faucets and precious water resources.”
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded $3,683,000 to Nevada through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) program for state water pollution control projects, and an additional $459,000 specifically for investments to address emerging contaminants, including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in wastewater, stormwater, and nonpoint source pollution. The EPA also awarded $8,758,000 through the Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund (DWSRF) program for additional projects to address emerging contaminants in drinking water.

As Vice-Chair of the bipartisan Colorado River Caucus, Congresswoman Susie Lee has been dedicated to finding solutions to the worst drought in the American West in 12 centuries. Last Congress, Lee’s Large-Scale Water Recycling Project Investment Act was enacted as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, alongside more than $400 million to improve Nevada’s water infrastructure. This Congress, Lee has introduced bipartisan legislation to close the biggest data gap in water management and led bipartisan calls for action in the Colorado River negotiations following a series of missed deadlines. Most recently, Congresswoman Lee announced that $63 million in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding has been awarded to 13 water infrastructure projects across Nevada.
