Congresswoman Lee Announces Over $6 Million in Federal Housing Grants
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) announced more than $6 million in federal investments to improve and expand affordable housing in southern Nevada.
The federal investment comes in two batches. The first is from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Public Housing Repair Fund, which is awarding the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority $5.8 million to repair and modernize public housing developments. These include large-scale improvements such as replacing roofs or making energy-efficient upgrades to heating systems and installing water conservation measures, which help drive down costs for residents.
The second investment is a $472,000 grant from NeighborWorks America to Nevada HAND which will support their efforts to develop and preserve affordable housing, revitalize and sustain neighborhoods, and create local jobs.
“No one should have to worry about how to keep a roof over their head and this new investment will directly address that issue in southern Nevada,” said Congresswoman Susie Lee. “As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, it’s my job to bring back federal dollars to our community. I will continue fighting to lower costs for working families and secure investments to expand affordable housing.”
