LAS VEGAS – Today, Congresswoman Lee (NV-03), joined by the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 711, held a ceremony to recognize the heroic service of more than 20 southern Nevada Vietnam War veterans who were wounded in combat and honor them with Vietnam Veteran Lapel pins.
“There is nothing more important in this job than my responsibility to have the backs of our veterans. These are not Democratic or Republican issues — they are principles of the country we live in,” said Congresswoman Lee. “I’m grateful for the work of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 711 as the voice of combat wounded. The Purple Heart Vietnam veterans we’re honoring today exemplify our nation’s best, and it’s our duty to ensure that we take care of our veterans when they return home.”
Last Congress, Lee helped pass the bipartisan PACT Act to expand health care to veterans exposed to toxic substances during their military service, which just awarded its one millionth veteran and survivor disability compensation claim. Lee is also leading legislation to implement more comprehensive, systems-focused suicide prevention programs for veterans across the country.
Lee was joined by Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 711 Commander Vince Palmieri and local Vietnam veterans and their families.
