Congresswoman Lee Hosts Local Presentation to Promote Women’s Financial Literacy

August 3, 2023

LAS VEGAS – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (D-NV) hosted an event with financial services experts highlighting financial literacy tools and resources to help women in southern Nevada take control of their financial futures.

Women ages 18 to 44 make up the largest demographic of people in poverty in Nevada, a state that ranks 45th in the nation for women's employment and earnings. In the face of this reality, financial literacy tools have proven critical for lifting women out of poverty.

"Trying to save money or stick to a budget can be challenging for anyone, but too often women feel like the deck is stacked against them," said Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03). "The truth is, women with higher levels of financial literacy save more, spend more wisely, and invest more in their future. It's never too late to start taking control of your financial future, and that's what today's presentation was all about."

Congresswoman Lee was joined by representatives from New York Life Insurance Company, Lore Advocacy, Edward Jones, and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. This all-women team of leaders and experts shared tools, resources, and expertise to educate women in southern Nevada on managing a budget, building credit, saving for retirement, and more.

Representing the Third Congressional District of Nevada, Congresswoman Lee is a bipartisan champion for southern Nevada women. As Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Women's Caucus and Vice Chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus, Congresswoman Lee has been named one of the top ten most bipartisan Members in the U.S. House and the most bipartisan Member from Nevada.
