Congresswoman Lee Hosts Townhall for Southern Nevada Women Veterans

LAS VEGAS – Yesterday, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) hosted a women veterans townhall at the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center and met with southern Nevada women veterans to discuss the unique challenges they face.
“When our women in uniform transition to civilian life, it shouldn’t be another battle to find a good-paying job or get the medical resources you deserve,” said Congresswoman Lee. “Whether it’s breast cancer caused by toxic exposure or accessing OBGYN services, every woman veteran deserves to lead happy, healthy, and successful lives. Southern Nevada is proud of its strong veteran communities, and I’ve made it my mission to always have their backs in Congress.”
Congresswoman Lee has been a strong supporter of veterans across Nevada. Last year, Lee introduced legislation to incentivize employers to hire student veterans for part-time work and paid internships. She also voted to pass and helped ensure the Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act was signed into law in 2022, which provides benefits and care to veterans impacted by toxic exposure.
Women veterans are the fastest growing veteran population and face unique health conditions like reproductive care, breast cancer, endometriosis, and menopause. They also experience some conditions much differently than men, like Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular disease, and some autoimmune diseases. As the only clinic in the Las Vegas area which offers women services to veterans, the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center is a critical resource for southern Nevadans. That’s why Congresswoman Lee joined representatives from the Medical Center, as well as local leaders and women veterans from across southern Nevada to discuss the challenges facing women veterans and share the resources that are available to them.
