LAS VEGAS – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) hosted a water conservation summit to discuss partnership-driven progress in Western water conservation. During the summit, Congresswoman Lee announced that the Bureau of Reclamation has allocated $63 million in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding to 13 water infrastructure projects across Nevada.

Congresswoman Lee was joined by Deputy Secretary of the Interior Tommy Beaudreau, as well as representatives from the Bureau of Reclamation, Southern Nevada Water Authority, Desert Research Institute, and other regional water leaders.

"As the stewards of Lake Mead, Nevadans are no strangers to collaborative and innovative solutions to address the drought and water crisis. This is why we are continuing to lead the charge in Western water conservation, and why we stand to gain significantly from this federal funding," said Colorado River Caucus Vice-Chair Congresswoman Susie Lee. "Today's summit was all about bringing together our local, regional, and federal partners to highlight progress made against the worst drought in twelve centuries and identify opportunities for future breakthroughs. I'm proud that this funding will benefit our exceptional water leaders, and I'll keep working in Congress to ensure that they have all the resources needed to carry on their good work here in Nevada and across the Colorado River Basin."

The $63 million in funding announced today comes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that Congresswoman Lee helped negotiate and deliver to President Biden's desk last Congress. Now, this historic legislation is delivering results to Nevada in many forms, including water infrastructure, conservation, and drought resiliency projects. In addition to highlighting this funding, Congresswoman Lee led panel discussions on local collaborations supporting the Las Vegas Wash, regional collaborations advancing large-scale water recycling, and efforts to harness water data for sustainable agriculture and water management.

As Vice-Chair of the Colorado River Caucus, Congresswoman Susie Lee has been dedicated to finding solutions to the worst drought in the American West in 12 centuries. Last Congress, Lee's Large-Scale Water Recycling Project Investment Act was signed into law as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This Congress, Lee has introduced bipartisan legislation to close the biggest data gap in water management and led bipartisan calls for action in the Colorado River negotiations.
