LAS VEGAS – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) issued a public service announcement addressing increased impaired driving as more Nevadans hit the road ahead of the holidays. Joined by Stop DUI, law enforcement officials, and traffic safety advocates, Congresswoman Lee called for safe driving habits and increased awareness of the dangers of impaired driving in the coming weeks.

In Nevada, more than 350 people have died this year alone in accidents due to factors including impaired driving and speeding. As the holidays approach, impaired driving becomes even more prevalent, which makes raising awareness at this time of year all the more important.

“As we embark on the holiday season, we all know that this should be a chance for us to celebrate, gather, and spend time with our friends, family, and loved ones. But too often at this time of year and sadly throughout the year, instead of celebrating, too many families are mourning the loss of their loved ones,” said Congresswoman Lee. “We all have a responsibility to ensure that everyone on our streets, from other motorists to bicyclists to pedestrians, make it to the new year safe and unharmed by making responsible choices behind the wheel. This winter, please drive sober, or don’t drive at all.”

Representing the Third Congressional District of Nevada, Congresswoman Lee is a strong advocate for keeping Nevadans safe on our roadways. Last Congress, Congresswoman Lee voted to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which was signed into law by President Biden and has allocated billions to transportation and infrastructure projects in Nevada. Earlier this year, Congresswoman Lee led a letter to President Biden urging him to swiftly nominate and work to confirm a permanent Administrator to lead the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
