Congresswoman Lee Joins Bipartisan No Tax on Tips Act
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) announced she is cosponsoring the bipartisan No Tax on Tips Act to exempt 100% of all tips from the federal income tax. All tips are currently subject to federal taxes, which hits states like Nevada – with the highest concentration of tipped workers in the nation – especially hard.
“We need to be doing everything we can to keep more dollars in Nevadans’ pockets. No one should lose out on the tips they earned, especially while big corporations make record profits,” said Congresswoman Susie Lee. “This bipartisan legislation will bring immediate relief to many Nevadans and must be part of a broader effort to raise wages while protecting workers from corporate greed.”
Congresswoman Lee is working to lower costs and keep more money in southern Nevadans’ pockets. Earlier this year, she helped pass a bipartisan tax package that made significant progress to expand the Child Tax Credit and the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and has fought to increase the minimum wage since her first days in Congress. She also helped pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped the cost of insulin at $35/month and caps annual drug costs at $2,000 for seniors.
