WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) joined the Democrats for Border Security Task Force to call on far-right leadership to let Congress vote on bipartisan border security legislation. Bipartisan border security legislation has been negotiated in the Senate, however far-right leadership has refused to bring the bill up for a vote.
“Las Vegas is a community, an industry, and an economy that was built on the backs of immigrant labor. But right now, we can all agree that our immigration system is severely broken,” said Congresswoman Susie Lee. “And we all know that any border security legislation must be bipartisan. Every day, I have conversations with House Republicans and just about all of them agree we need to protect our border, process asylum claims more efficiently, so those who are fleeing violence and persecution can come here to live, work, pay taxes, and strengthen our economy, and create a path to citizenship. But unfortunately, the far-right leadership on the other side of the aisle has decided to continue to use our immigration system as a political football. So, I call on my colleagues to show the courage that we need to address an issue that has affected so many families across this country, our national security, and our economy.”
Co-chairs of the Democrats for Border Security Task Force are Representatives Henry Cuellar (TX-28) and Tom Suozzi (NY-03).

I represent Las Vegas, Nevada, along with Steven Horsford. And this is a community, an industry, an economy that was built on the backs of immigrant labor. But right now, we can all agree that our immigration system is severely broken.
And we all know that any border security legislation like the Senate bill that is sitting on Mike Johnson's desk must be bipartisan. And every day I have conversations with House Republicans and just about all of them agree with me that we need to get to work to protect our border, to process asylum claims more efficiently so those who are actually fleeing violence and persecution can come here to live, work, pay taxes and strengthen our economy.
And we also agree that we need to create a path to citizenship. But unfortunately, the far-right leadership on the other side of the aisle has decided to continue to use our immigration system as a political football. So, I call on my colleagues to show the courage that all of my members alongside me here, that we need to address an issue that has affected so many families across this country, our national security, and our economy.
