Congresswoman Lee Secures Over $4.4 Million for Nevada in Federal Funding Bill

January 9, 2026

Yesterday, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) voted to pass a federal funding package that includes over $4.4 million in federal investments for community projects throughout southern Nevada.

“When I got elected, I made a commitment to make sure southern Nevada receives its fair share of federal funding. Every day from my seat on the House Appropriations Committee, I have championed southern Nevada’s priorities, and this legislation reflects it,” said Congresswoman Susie Lee. “These investments will help improve our water safety and supply and equip our law enforcement officers with the tools they need to keep our community safe. I’ll keep working to bring tax dollars back home to southern Nevada to make key investments to improve our infrastructure, strengthen our public safety, and ensure our community has the resources it needs.”

Highlights of the Investments Secured by Rep. Lee include:

  • $1,092,000 to enhance wastewater infrastructure and safety in the southwest region of Laughlin by removing and replacing 1.5 miles of aged, asbestos-containing cement pipes.
  • $908,000 to design a two-million-gallon water storage tank to address Laughlin’s four-million-gallon portable water storage deficit. Laughlin’s water treatment and delivery system is the only such system managed by the Las Vegas Valley Water District that lacks a secondary water source and lags in water storage capacity. To meet this crisis, Congresswoman Lee helped pass a law in 2025 requesting assistance to update Laughlin’s water system, which includes the construction of additional storage tanks to ensure adequate reserves. This investment is the first step to fully funding construction of the tanks.
  • $1,031,000 to allow Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to purchase vital equipment for their Air Support Section, which patrols over 8,000 square miles of Clark County. LVMPD’s Air Support Section is also responsible for search and rescue, transportation flights, Presidential motorcade escorts, covert ariel surveillance of suspects, and maintenance of mountain top radio repeater sites.
  • $1,031,00 for the Desert Research Institute to conduct a study on how to reduce lithium-ion battery fire risks and provide firefighters with effective fire suppression strategies and proper personal protection. Unfortunately, Las Vegas has experienced several notable lithium-ion battery fires in recent years.
  • $360,000 to enable the Nevada State Police to purchase equipment for four virtual reality training systems, ensuring officers are equipped to deal with situations in a manner that uses the least level of force while maintaining officer safety.
