Congresswoman Lee Statement on Anniversary of 1 October Mass Shooting
LAS VEGAS — Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) released the following statement on the seventh anniversary of the tragic October 1, 2017, shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada:
“Seven years ago, our community was forever changed by the deadliest mass shooting in our nation’s history. 60 innocent lives taken, more than 800 people injured, and thousands across Las Vegas traumatized. I am grateful to the first responders that day, along with the nurses, doctors, and hospital staff, who worked through the night to care for victims and save lives.
“In the days, months, and years that followed, southern Nevadans united in strength and resilience. And in Congress, we translated that strength into action by passing historic gun safety legislation. But it is not enough. Gun violence remains the number one cause of death for children in our country.
“This anniversary is an opportunity to remember all the lives lost as well as all the work that lies ahead. Today and every day, we are Vegas Strong.”
