Congresswoman Lee Statement on Announced Ceasefire Between Israel and Hamas
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) released the following statement on the announced ceasefire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas:
“The news of tonight’s ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is what we have waited 732 days to hear – an agreement to finally get the hostages home and end this war.
“Just yesterday, on the second anniversary of the October 7th massacre, I renewed my call for peace in the region. Today, I’m relieved to see the first steps towards that peace. I applaud those who were willing to come to the negotiating table to try to reach a resolution to this conflict. Now, both sides must honor this agreement so we can begin the process of rebuilding the communities torn apart by this war.
“As this agreement is carried out, we must immediately surge food and humanitarian aid into Gaza and ensure Palestinians receive the medical care they desperately need.
“Tonight, my heart is with all those who lost loved ones over the past two years. May we continue to honor their memories as we work towards lasting peace.”
