Congresswoman Lee Statement on DOGE Delaying Federal Reimbursements for Nevada Healthcare Programs
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) released the following statement in response to the current administration delaying reimbursements to Nevada for certain U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) healthcare programs:
“We’ve been notified that DOGE and the current administration have begun delaying reimbursements to Nevada for certain HHS healthcare programs. This means that DOGE is making it harder for Nevada healthcare providers and nonprofits — who are already burdened with the high cost of meeting the needs of our community — from delivering essential care to our families.
“DOGE put Nevada’s healthcare on the chopping block and now the cuts are beginning.
“Last week, over 50 providers and nonprofits that provide healthcare for Nevadans — from aging and disability services to early childhood hearing detection — were told that the federal reimbursements they were promised were delayed pending DOGE review. This is causing confusion and potentially risking the availability of services. These groups rely on federal reimbursements to provide healthcare and other essential services in Nevada.
“DOGE has caused uncertainty in our state’s healthcare system. And while Nevadans wait for DOGE to work through the mess they created, our healthcare providers and nonprofits are left shouldering the costs and at risk of having to reduce services.
“The bottom line is that DOGE is cutting healthcare programs so they can take that money and give tax cuts to the wealthy. I’m calling on my Republican colleagues to stand up to Elon Musk and protect Americans’ healthcare.”
