Congresswoman Lee Statement on Rep. Al Green Censure Vote
March 6, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) released the following statement after voting against censuring Rep. Al Green:
“During my time in Congress, I have voted to censure both Democrats and Republicans when their language incited violence.
“In recent years, members of both parties have lacked civility during presidential addresses and it’s unacceptable. In this most recent instance, Rep. Al Green was rightfully removed from the House chamber. However, we shouldn’t be in the business of censuring free speech on the House Floor just because we disagree.
“Both sides won’t always agree, but to find common ground — which is ultimately what most Americans want — there must be a level of respect.”
