Congresswoman Lee Statement on Trump’s Freeze on Federal Assistance in the U.S.

January 28, 2025

WASHINGTON — Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03), a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement in response to President Trump’s freeze on federal financial assistance in the U.S.:

“My biggest concern about President Trump’s latest attempt to build a monarchy is that families, seniors, veterans, and the sick across this country will suffer because of it.

“Hospitals, healthcare providers, and nonprofits will be forced to discontinue services or shut down.

“Federally funded infrastructure projects and their jobs will halt, local law enforcement and firefighters will lose out on funding, hungry kids and seniors won’t get the food they need, schools and student aid will lose funding, and research for treatments and cures to cancers and diseases will pause.

“All of this is just a fraction of what could be affected by Trump’s order. It’s not just a presidential power grab – it's plain wrong.”
