ICYMI: From Bills to Beer, “Bipartisanship is a Winner”
Congresswoman Susie Lee Now Tops the List in Bipartisan Beer Rankings and Bipartisan Legislative Accomplishments in Congress
WASHINGTON– This week Congresswoman Susie Lee (D-NV) and her bipartisan beer buddy Congressman David Joyce (R-OH) took home the trophy, winning the People’s Choice Award for their “ErieLee Good Beer” at Anheuser-Busch's Sixth Annual Brew Across America Congressional Brewing Competition.
Over the summer, the Representatives Lee and Joyce along with 5 other bipartisan congressional teams worked with Anheuser-Busch breweries across the country to create signature beers inspired by local flavors and themes from their districts and states. Each participating member of Congress worked alongside a bipartisan buddy to brew their beer, which highlights the nonpartisan nature of beer and helps strengthen the ties between members across the aisle.
Representatives Lee and Joyce brewed up the “ErieLee Good Beer” — a purple IPA to highlight the purple independent-mindedness of the constituents they represent in Nevada and Ohio.
“Bipartisanship is a winner for many of our toughest issues, and it’s no surprise that beer is no exception,” said Congresswoman Lee. “It’s an honor to once again work alongside my bipartisan buddy, Congressman David Joyce, to win the People’s Choice Award at Anheuser-Busch's Brew Across America competition and to raise awareness for the important work of our chosen charity, the National Volunteer Firefighter Council.”
“As native Ohioans, Congresswoman Susie Lee and I had full confidence that our ErieLee Good beer would bring home this year’s People’s Choice Award,” said Congressman Joyce. “Thank you to Anheuser-Busch for hosting this event in the spirit of bipartisanship. I had a blast working alongside Congresswoman Lee to create the world’s most delicious purple beer.”
