WASHINGTON — Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) responded to the field hearing being held by Republican members of the House Ways and Means Committee in Las Vegas.

“Hey everyone. Well, it's been a crazy week in Washington as Republicans canceled pretty much all of our votes because they're afraid of releasing the Epstein files.
“But yet they plan on bringing their clown show to town, literally to try to convince Nevadans that this Big Bullshit Bill is a good deal for us. Don't be fooled. Okay, first of all, we stand to, see over 100,000 people lose their health care. 8300 clean energy, jobs will be gone. Nevadans are going to see their energy costs go up.
“And let's just take a second to talk about the ‘No Tax on Tips’, because I'm sure they're going to be in Vegas talking about how they're no longer going to tax tips, overtime, and Social Security. Don't be fooled. Because number one, those tax breaks are capped if you earn over $150,000, you will see your benefit decline. And not only that, they're not permanent. They expire in 2028.
“But guess whose tax breaks are permanent? 80% of the tax breaks go to the wealthiest 20% of Americans, and they don't expire in 2028. This is the largest transfer of wealth in American history. And not only that, we're going to leave the bill to our kids as it adds $4.4 trillion to the deficit.
“So you know what I always say? If you put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig. Republicans are going to try to come to Nevada and try to convince you that they passed a bill that's going to work for you, but it actually only works for the wealthiest Americans.
“So tomorrow, when you hear that Republicans are here talking about the great pieces of this bill, remember what I told you? This is a bill that literally benefits the wealthiest Americans, and it is the hardworking Americans who have made not only Nevada great, but our country great who will be left holding the bag.”
