ICYMl: Rep. Susie Lee Joins Group of 22 Lawmakers in Introducing New Legislation to Protect Federal Workers and Their Families From Losing Their Homes, Falling Behind in Paying Bills During Shutdown
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Susie Lee (D-NV) joined Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI), Rep. Derek Kilmer (D-WA), and 19 other lawmakers--including Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV)--to introduce the Federal Employee Civil Relief Act. The new legislation would protect federal workers and their families from foreclosures, evictions, and loan defaults during a government shutdown.
Rep. Susie Lee released the following statement on yesterday's bill introduction:
"Every day we are hearing more and more stories about the severe impact this unnecessary shutdown is having on our hardest working public servants. Hurting working families is the wrong way to make public policy. Public servants shouldn't be harmed because the President and Republican Senate want to play partisan games, with this legislation we take the first step towards making sure something like this never happens again to these men and women."
