Lee Secures Major Wins for Servicemembers at Creech in Bipartisan Defense Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) voted to pass the bipartisan FY 26 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), giving servicemembers a much-deserved raise, strengthening support for military families, and delivering major wins for servicemembers at Creech Air Force Base.
Lee’s amendments and legislation passed as part of the defense bill include:
Designating Creech Air Force Base as a remote or isolated installation, unlocking funding to give servicemembers and their families increased access to support services, including child care and fitness centers.
- Providing remotely piloted aircraft crews expanded access to mental health services.
- Enhancing protections of our nuclear sites like the Nevada National Security Site against unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
- Laying the groundwork to ensure veterans suffering from toxic radiation exposure — in particular, those whose served at classified sites like the Nevada Test and Training Range — can finally access the benefits they earned.
Additionally, the bipartisan defense bill makes significant improvements to quality of life for servicemembers and strengthens national security:
Gives servicemembers a 3.8 percent pay raise.
- Extends efforts to improve child care and military housing.
- Makes the most significant acquisition reforms in a generation to get critical equipment to servicemembers quicker and more efficiently.
- Authorizes continued assistance to Ukraine.
- Invests significantly in science and technology so the United States remains on the cutting edge of advancements for a strong national defense.
The bipartisan defense bill also includes important oversight measures:
Repeals the 1991 and 2002 Authorizations for the Use of Military Force (AUMFs) against Iraq.
Withholds funding for Secretary of Defense Hegseth’s travel until the Department of Defense releases unedited videos and execute orders related to strikes against drug cartels in Latin America.
Requires military personnel supporting civilian law enforcement in U.S. cities to clearly display the name of their service branch, increasing transparency when troops support domestic law enforcement operations.
The NDAA now moves to the Senate for final passage before heading to the President’s desk. Congresswoman Lee will continue working to ensure that Nevada’s servicemembers, veterans, and military families receive the benefits, recognition, and support they have earned through their service.
