NEW: Rep. Lee Joins Colleagues in Co-Sponsoring Historic Anti-Corruption and Fair Election Reforms
Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Susie Lee announced her co-sponsorship of the H.R.1, the For the People Act, a sweeping package of pro-democracy, and anti-corruption reforms that will put electoral power back in the hands of the American people. H.R. 1 will curb the influence of big money in politics, make it easier, not harder for Americans to practice their fundamental right to vote, and ensure that politicians actually serve the public--not special interest groups.
Rep. Lee released the following statement after signing onto the bill:
"I ran for Congress because I wanted to help move this body to better represent all Americans, not just special interests and big corporations, which is why it is only fitting that the For the People Act is the first piece of legislation that I have signed onto in my congressional career. I am proud to join the growing list of members in co-sponsoring H.R.1. It's time to clean up Washington and make the government of, by, and for the people again."
