Rep. Lee Announces $450,000 Grant to Support Affordable Housing in Southern Nevada

February 17, 2021

LAS VEGAS – U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) announced that NeighborWorks America, a congressionally chartered non-profit organization, has granted $450,000 in funding to local organization Nevada HAND, which provides affordable housing for Nevada seniors and working families. This grant funding will support efforts to develop and preserve affordable housing, revitalize and sustain neighborhoods, and create jobs.

"This grant will help increase access to affordable housing in southern Nevada, which is something our communities desperately need during this pandemic," said Rep. Lee. "Nevada HAND has helped countless seniors and working families find stable housing, and I'm glad we can get them this extra federal support during a time when so many Nevadans are counting on their leadership. I'll continue to work day in and day out to ensure our state has the support it needs from our federal government."

"Nevada HAND is overjoyed that our long-standing and continued partnership with NeighborWorks has resulted in grant funding in 2021," said Nevada HAND President & CEO, Audra Hamernik. "The grant money received helps our organization to address the shortage of affordable housing in Nevada. We currently have 35 communities in Southern Nevada that provide housing for over 7,600 working families and low-income seniors. Once again, Congress has demonstrated that it has a sharp eye for a sound investment. Thank you to NeighborWorks for being a valued partner and helping us support our residents and communities."
