Rep. Lee Announces $6.9 Million Grant for Westside Education & Training Center in Las Vegas

February 5, 2021

Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration has granted nearly $7 million in CARES Act Recovery Assistance to the College of Southern Nevada. The grant will help to fund a new training facility, the Westside Workforce Education & Training Center.

"This grant will lead to good more good-paying jobs in Nevada," said Rep Lee. "As we navigate our way out of the COVID-19 pandemic, we must ensure that we are investing in the long-term health of the Nevada economy. This pandemic has hit Nevada harder than most states, and I'll continue to work day in and day out to ensure our state has the support it needs from our federal government."

"We are thrilled that this grant will allow the College of Southern Nevada to partner with the City of Las Vegas, and the Ward 5 - Works Initiative to establish the new Westside Workforce Education & Training Center," said CSN President Dr. Federico Zaragoza. "There is a great need in the West Las Vegas community for educational opportunities that lead to good, high-wage jobs. Our new training center will enable CSN and our partners, the City of Las Vegas, to offer exactly that — a pathway out of unemployment and under-employment straight into a career pathway and to family sustaining jobs."
