Rep. Lee Announces Nearly $1.7 Million in Funding for Las Vegas COVID-19 Health Literacy Initiatives
WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH) has granted $1.67 million to the City of Las Vegas as part of a new, two-year initiative to identify and implement best practices for improving health literacy to enhance COVID-19 vaccination and other mitigation practices among underserved populations. This initiative, the Advancing Health Literacy to Enhance Equitable Community Responses to COVID-19 initiative is part of the Biden/Harris Administration's National Strategy for the COVID-19 Response and Pandemic Preparedness.
"The pandemic has disproportionately affected our vulnerable populations that don't always have the resources necessary to come out of this pandemic healthy and strong," said Rep. Lee. "We must ensure that no one is left behind in our state's recovery efforts, and it is critical that we invest locally to ensure that all Nevadans have access to the information they need to make health care decisions for their families. I am proud that this funding is coming to Las Vegas to bring us one step closer to achieving health equity."
