Rep. Lee Continues to Fight for Water Solutions

WASHINGTON – As drought continues to plague the west and water levels in Lake Mead fall to record lows, Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03) is continuing to fight for innovative water solutions for Nevada's future. In the past week, Rep. Lee welcomed Vice President Harris to Lake Mead, joined two House Natural Resources Committee hearings on Colorado River drought conditions and response measures, and spoke on the House floor in support of water investments included in the bipartisan infrastructure bill and Build Back Better Act.

Monday, Rep. Lee welcomed Vice President Kamala Harris to Nevada's Third Congressional District to tour Lake Mead, which supplies water for 25 million Americans and 90% of southern Nevada. The Vice President and Rep. Lee spoke in support of the investments in water infrastructure in the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Build Back Better Act. As Congress continues negotiations this week, Rep. Lee continues to fight to put politics aside and pass both historic pieces of legislation.

Rep. Lee also participated in two hearings on Colorado River drought conditions and response measures with the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Oceans, and Wildlife. In these hearings, Rep. Lee questioned John Entsminger, general manager of the Southern Nevada Water Authority, and Adel Hagekhalil, general manager of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, about the future impact of water recycling projects throughout the West and water-related climate resilience in the Colorado River Basin. Rep. Lee also brought the situation at Lake Mead to the floor of the House and spoke in favor of passing the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the Build Back Better Act. The bipartisan infrastructure bill includes more than 8 billion dollars for water infrastructure, including Rep. Lee's water recycling legislation that will invest in large-scale water recycling projects and keep more water in Lake Mead for Nevadans. You can watch Rep. Lee's remarks here.
