Rep. Lee Presents Vietnam Veteran, USAF Sgt. Danny Snyder with Order of the Purple Heart

July 10, 2020

Henderson, Nev. – U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) released the following statement after presenting Nevada Vietnam Veteran and United States Air Force Sergeant Danny Snyder, who was joined by his family, with the Military Order of the Purple Heart at the Henderson Vet Center:

"For Air Force Sergeant and Vietnam Veteran Danny Snyder, this Purple Heart is long overdue—49 years overdue. Today, Danny has finally received the official recognition he deserves. It's our duty to support, thank, and honor every veteran who put their life on the line for our freedom, especially those who were injured on the battlefield. I'll continue to live up to my duty of serving our veterans in Congress, which is the least I can do for heroes like Danny who served our country and defended our freedom. Welcome home, Danny."

BACKGROUND: During his service in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972, Sgt. Snyder incurred a serious leg injury after a rocket attack at Da Nang Airbase on July 5, 1971. Sgt. Snyder has worked with Rep. Lee's office for the past six months to verify and confirm with the United States Air Force that Sgt. Snyder indeed was owed a Purple Heart for his injuries sustained that day in Vietnam.

Rep. Lee presented the distinctive award alongside the Henderson Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 730.
