Rep. Lee’s Calls on Senate to Take Up Government Funding Bill, End the Shutdown
Washington, DC – After voting to reopen the government last week, Congresswoman Susie Lee released the following statement today calling on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to bring the bipartisan funding bill up for a vote on the Senate floor:
"This shutdown has gone on for far too long. Last week, the House passed a bill that the Senate unanimously approved just last month, so it is inexcusable that they are now flat-out refusing to bring the bill to vote and send it to the President's desk. The Senate needs to stop playing partisan games and reopen our government immediately. Hundreds of thousands of public servants--including thousands in Nevada--have gone weeks without pay and must get the pay they are owed. We did our job, the Senate owes it to the American people to do theirs."
Congresswoman Lee has requested to have her Congressional salary withheld until this unnecessary shutdown ends.
