Rep. Lee’s Statement on the Beginning of the 116th Congress
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Susie Lee released the following statement after being sworn in earlier today:
"Today, I took my oath of office. I was reminded how grateful and humbled I am to have the opportunity and what an enormous responsibility this is—especially at this divisive time in our country's politics. It is an honor that the people of Nevada's 3rd Congressional have put their trust in me to serve them. I promised to come to Washington, D.C. to build a better tomorrow for Nevada families, to bring our leaders together to try to solve the tough problems like health care costs, workforce development, climate change, gun violence, and solving our student debt crisis. That's exactly what I intend to do.
"Reopening our unnecessarily shuttered government must be our first course of business. Thousands of families, including many in Nevada, are suffering as a result of this partisan brinkmanship. The House has already passed legislation that would re-open the federal government, now the Senate must send this bill to the President's desk."
