Press Release

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) released the following statement after a federal judge gave the State of Nevada permission to amend its lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to include a request for the department to remove weapons-grade plutonium from the state, which DOE secretly shipped to Nevada last year without notifying any local or state officials:

"This is good news for Nevadans. We have made it very clear, time and time again, that we value our state, our economy, our health, and our future too much to become the nation’s nuclear waste dump. I applaud the court’s decision, which will allow Nevada to amend its lawsuit against the Department of Energy to remove the weapons-grade plutonium in our state that was secretly shipped there.”
