Rep. Lee Votes Against SAVE America Act, Demands Republicans Stop Politicizing Defense Funding

July 22, 2026

Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) released the following statement after Republicans chose to politicize national security and funding for U.S. troops by attaching the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to the dangerous SAVE America Act:

“Keeping our country safe should be a bipartisan priority.

“Unfortunately, some of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle chose to politicize this process by attaching the historically bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to the SAVE America Act. I voted against this extreme legislation that would make it harder for millions of Americans to vote, just as I have every time Republicans have put it and the earlier SAVE Act on the floor.

“Congressional Republicans’ decision to heedlessly politicize the NDAA by attaching the SAVE America Act is not only wrong, it is frankly dangerous.

“As negotiations around this legislation continue, I urge my colleagues to pursue a bipartisan path forward that keeps our men and women in uniform – and our nation – safe.”

Congresswoman Lee has repeatedly opposed and spoken out against both the SAVE America Act and the SAVE Act. She has voted against these bills every time congressional Republicans have forced a vote on them over the past three years, and she released a statement when Republicans forced a vote on the SAVE Act earlier this Congress.

When Republicans updated the SAVE Act to the SAVE America Act to disenfranchise more Americans, Rep. Lee opposed the legislation, calling it “a trick to prevent millions of Americans from voting.”

Congresswoman Lee continues fighting to ensure all eligible voters can exercise their right to vote and have their vote counted.
