Rep. Susie Lee Announces More Than $28 Million for Nevadans in American Rescue Plan Funded Grants to Aid Local Addiction and Mental Health Resources

May 19, 2021

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Susie Lee announced that under the American Rescue Plan, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is distributing more than $28 million to support Nevada substance abuse and mental health resources. These funds, which will be distributed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, mark a historic investment in mental health services in Nevada.

"This pandemic has elevated and accelerated the need to invest in local efforts to treat and care for Nevadans struggling with substance abuse and mental health challenges," said Rep. Susie Lee. "We all have friends, neighbors, and loved ones who face these challenges on a daily basis. This funding will go a long way in providing the necessary resources to care for Nevadans' mental health – at a time when it's needed more than ever. The American Rescue plan is working across the board to alleviate the suffering caused by this pandemic, and I'm proud that this funding is on its way to Nevada."

Of this $28.8 million, more than $13 million will be administered through the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant Program and over $15 million through the Community Mental Health Block Grant Program. These programs will enable the state of Nevada to address local needs and gaps in existing programs and provider access.
