Funding Rep. Lee Helped Pass Will Help Child Care Providers Open Safely, Keep Workers on Payroll, and Help Hardworking Families Cover Costs

WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03) announced that $361,212,681 will be provided for Nevada child care providers to open safely, keep workers on the payroll, and lower costs for hardworking families.

"The American Rescue Plan is working," said Rep. Susie Lee. "With this funding, child care centers will have the resources they need to either stay open or reopen safely, and child care will be more affordable for Nevada families. Safe, affordable child care is essential to getting parents back to work as we continue to recover from this pandemic and rebuild our economy here in southern Nevada."

The funding comes as part of two programs Rep. Lee helped create through the American Rescue Plan:

  • $222,425,189 from the child care stabilization fund to help child care providers to reopen or stay open, provide safe and healthy learning environments, keep workers on payroll, and provide mental health supports for educators and children.
  • $138,787,492 in more flexible funding for Nevada to make child care more affordable for more families, increase access to high-quality care for families receiving subsidies, increase compensation for early childhood workers, and meet other care needs in the state.

The funding will go directly to Nevada, which will allocate it to specific providers and families.
