Rep. Susie Lee Chairs First Tech Modernization Subcommittee Hearing

April 2, 2019

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03) chaired her first hearing of the Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee on Technology Modernization. The hearing was part of the Subcommittee's oversight over the Department of Veterans' Affairs Office of Information and Technology.

Rep. Susie Lee released the following statement on the first hearing of the Tech Modernization Subcommittee:

"My goal for this Subcommittee is to ensure that the taxpayers' dollars are used in an efficient and effective way that gets results for America's veterans, and today's hearing was the first step in that direction. I look forward to working with my colleague, Ranking Member Banks, and the other members of the Subcommittee on this important mandate in a bipartisan manner.

"While we were disappointed that the Office of Information and Technology, which oversees all aspects of technology modernization at VA, declined to send anyone to discuss the important work the office is doing for our veterans, I hope we will hear from them at a Subcommittee hearing in the near future. If we want VA to be able to successfully deliver healthcare and benefits to our veterans, the Office of Information and Technology needs to be a committed partner with the Subcommittee on this effort."
