Rep. Susie Lee Helps Pass Historic Pro-Democracy, Anti-Corruption Reforms

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) released the following statement after voting to pass the For the People Act, a comprehensive pro-democracy, anti-corruption package that would put electoral power back in the hands of the American people:

"For too long, American voices have been drowned out by special interests," said Rep. Lee. "Americans are feeling shut out by Washington because the system is stacked against them due to years of systemic problems ranging from voter suppression to gerrymandering to shadowy special interests spending. The For the People Act can fix that. I voted for this landmark bill so we can curb corruption, strengthen our democracy, continue to ensure the security of our elections, and protect every American's most basic right: the right to vote. We need a government that represents all Americans, and this bill will put electoral power back into the hands of the voters and hold elected officials accountable, allowing us to build a more democratic government that works for the people."
