Rep. Susie Lee Helps Pass Two Bipartisan Immigration Bills

WASHINGTON – T0day, U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) voted to pass the American Dream and Promise Act and the Farm Workforce Modernization Act. The American Dream and Promise Act, would create a path to citizenship for immigrants known as "Dreamers," who came to the U.S. as children. The Farm Workforce Modernization Act would establish a path to legal status for immigrant agricultural workers.

"More than 12,000 Dreamers call Nevada and America home – and for most, it's the only home they've ever known," said Rep. Susie Lee. "We must not continue to allow a broken immigration system to deprive innocent young people of the opportunity to study, work, and live in the only country they've ever known. And our country's agricultural workers who keep food on our tables deserve a path to legal status that will provide stability. We must ensure that hardworking immigrants who pay taxes and contribute to their communities have a path to legal status that provides security to themselves and their families, while supporting a key sector of America's workforce.

I am hopeful that the steps we took today are the first of many to reach a comprehensive, bipartisan immigration solution that provides pathways to citizenship, adequate enforcement, and resources to tackle the ongoing humanitarian crisis at our border."
