Rep. Susie Lee Hosts Successful Fourth Town Hall, Highlights Solutions to Make Education a National Priority
Henderson, Nev. - Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) hosted her fourth community town hall, this one being her first one specifically on education. The Congresswoman discussed the work she is doing to improve the country's education system and how she is serving southern Nevada's students, teachers, and schools in Congress. Constituents had the opportunity to ask questions regarding education or any other topic concerning them or their families in southern Nevada.
"I spent my career working to improve Nevada's education system, and now that I am in Congress, I'm dedicated to making education a top national priority," said Rep. Lee. "After today's town hall, it's clear that many of my constituents feel the exact same way, and want to see Congress implement policies to support our students and teachers and improve our schools. What was also made clear is that whether we're talking about education, immigration, health care, or the economy, Americans are tired of the partisanship and gridlock in Congress. So long as I am representing Nevada's 3rd District in Congress, I will not let partisanship or politics distract me from finding solutions to help my constituents."
BACKGROUND: This is Rep. Lee's fourth town hall of her term, and first town hall focused specifically on education. Rep. Lee has introduced landmark education legislation, including the Keep Our PACT Act, which fully funds Title I and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) programs and the PROTECT Students Act, which provides safeguards for students against predatory for-profit schools and student loan practices.

Henderson, Nev. - La congresista Susie Lee (Nev.-03) convocó su cuarto foro comunitario, éste siendo su primero específicamente sobre la educación. La congresista habló sobre el trabajo que está haciendo en el Congreso para mejorar el sistema educativo del país y cómo está sirviendo a los estudiantes, los maestros y las escuelas del sur de Nevada. Los residentes del distrito tuvieron la oportunidad para hacer preguntas sobre la educación o cualquier otro tema que les impacta a ellos o a sus familias en el sur de Nevada.
"He dedicado mi carrera a mejorar el sistema educativo de Nevada, y ya que estoy en el Congreso, me estoy dedicando a convertir la educación en una máxima prioridad nacional", dijo la congresista Lee. CONTEXTO: Éste es el cuarto foro comunitario de la congresista Lee durante su término, y el primero específicamente sobre la educación. La congresista Lee ha introducido legislación educativa fundamental, incluso la ley Keep Our PACT, la cual financia completamente los programas del Título I y los programas de la ley de Educación de Individuos con Discapacidades (IDEA, por sus siglas en inglés), y ha introducido la ley PROTECT Students, la cual provee protecciones a los estudiantes en contra de las abusivas escuelas con fines de lucro y de los préstamos estudiantiles abusivos.
