Rep. Susie Lee Hosts Third COVID-19 Telephone Town Hall with Financial Experts
Las Vegas, Nev. — U.S. Rep. Susie Lee (Nev.-03) hosted her third public health telephone town hall to address the COVID-19 pandemic and give her constituents accurate, up-to-date information on what is being done to help protect American families, workers, and small businesses.
This telephone town hall focused on financial security and the impact of COVID-19 on Nevada's economy, working families, and small businesses. Rep. Lee was joined by Nevada officials and financial experts to discuss topics like unemployment insurance assistance, small business relief, and other resources to help working families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rep. Lee was joined by Director of the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR) Dr. Tiffany Tyler-Garner; Public Information Officer of DETR Rosa Mendez; Professor of Law specializing in tax law at UNLV Boyd School of Law Dr. Francine Lipman; Internal Revenue Service Congressional Liaison Anabel Marquez; and Small Business Administration Nevada Director Joseph Amato.
"We know that the effects of the coronavirus pandemic are hitting Nevada families, workers, and businesses hard," said Rep. Lee. "It's up to us in government to not just provide economic relief, but make sure every American knows how to access the resources and aid available to them. That's why public events like today's telephone town hall are so important.
"Congress has passed three COVID-19 relief packages to bolster our public health system and get Americans relief, but we are by no means finished," continued Rep. Lee. "Moving forward, we need to prioritize relief for our local communities and working families, especially in states like Nevada where unemployment numbers are rising and small businesses and families are struggling to pay the bills.
"This is my third coronavirus tele-town hall, and I'm going to continue holding remote events like today's so my constituents and the public have access to up-to-date information on the steps we're taking in Nevada and in Congress to protect the health and well-being of all Americans," concluded Rep. Lee.
