Rep. Susie Lee on the House Passing the Equality Act

May 17, 2019

Washington, DC—Today, Representative Susie Lee (NV-03) voted to pass the Equality Act, which will finally give the LGBTQ+ Community federal protection against discrimination in employment, housing, and other core aspects of life.

Rep. Susie Lee released the following statement after the vote:

"No person should face discrimination at their job, on the bus, or when applying for housing or federal services because of who they are or the person they love. But for far too long, too many in our LGBTQ community have had to hide who they are or fear unjust retribution. Nearly 50 years after our LGBTQ brothers and sisters took to the streets of New York City to fight back against harassment and hate, I'm proud to have cast my vote in Congress today to finally ensure these Americans have full and equal civil rights protections under the law."
